The focus of my medical practice is women's health: complete obstetric care and office gynecology. But as a family physician I bring a unique perspective to Valley Women's Healthcare. I recall my own years of childbearing and raising children with great fondness. As a result, I work hard to support young families through pregnancy and childbirth, providing medical care while discussing breast feeding, the complexities of parenting, and marital challenges that inevitably arise.

Now that I am in mid-life myself, my interest in menopause and well woman care is increasingly acute! I encourage my patients to remember that midlife is not about looking younger, but rather about being healthy and vibrant as we grow in wisdom. I am interested in natural remedies and alternative therapies, particularly for midlife health issues. I appreciate my practice partners who provide surgical care for my obstetric and gynecologic patients when they need it.

I work part time so that I can remain active in the lives of my two sons who are in high school and travel to visit my college age son and daughter as often as they'll have me. I'm grateful to my husband, David Schumer MD, for his ongoing personal and professional support.
