Mark L Shope, MD
When I began my medical career, I knew I loved surgery. I wanted the technical challenges of a surgical specialty, but more patient contact than the typically found in general surgery. OB/GYN has turned out to be a perfect match. The long term relationships I have developed with my patients and their families have been deeply rewarding.
I have been in the Auburn area since the 1980s, so my obstetrical practice has grown over two decades! It is particularly satisfying to have the opportunity to be involved with the next generation when I have known a family for many years.
Surgery has evolved to benefit patients tremendously in the last decade. I enjoy laproscopic surgery because it minimizes trauma to the patient and allows for speedy, complete recovery.
When I am not at work, I enjoy a wide range of sporting and outdoor activities.
